Vanessa Parrotta (she/her)

Background
My name is Vanessa Parrotta (she/her), and I am an intern therapist currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I offer a warm, welcoming space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with curiosity. I deeply appreciate the courage personal growth requires, and I honour each person’s unique story as they move toward healing.
With a background in communication studies and experience in a corporate setting, I have developed a strong understanding of how people connect, lead, and respond under stress. These experiences have sparked my interest in how our sense of safety - emotional, physical, mental, or financial - shapes our relationships, self-worth, and capacity for trust and intimacy. My goal is to meet you where you are and support you in developing insight, resilience, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges.
Balancing emotional work with joy and lightness is important to me. I enjoy recharging outdoors or with reality TV, reminders that even in chaos, humour and connection can be found. These small joys help me stay grounded and present, both in and out of session.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, empathy, and collaboration. I believe every person’s story makes sense within the context of their experiences, and I strive to create a space where you can explore it with self-compassion. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Narrative, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused Brief, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I tailor our work to your needs, preferences, and goals, offering a space to deepen self-understanding and move toward what feels authentic and fulfilling.
I view therapy as a shared journey of discovery. Together, we uncover strengths, develop practical tools, and build resilience. I support clients navigating anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges. Additionally, I have a growing interest in how financial stress and beliefs about security influence emotional and relational well-being. By bringing awareness to these patterns, we can cultivate greater balance, confidence, and connection in our lives and relationships.
