Allison Lee (she/her)

Background
Hi, I’m Allison (she/her), a Registered Clinical Counsellor at Avery Therapy Centre. I support individuals who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or navigating life changes, and are looking for a space where they can feel understood and begin to move forward with more clarity and confidence.
I was born in Taiwan and moved to Canada when I was eight, and Vancouver has been home ever since. Growing up between cultures shaped how I understand identity, belonging, and transition, and deepened my appreciation for the resilience it takes to adapt while staying connected to yourself.
I bring a warm, down-to-earth, and genuinely curious presence into my work. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are, without pressure or judgment, and feel supported as you make sense of your experiences.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCLA and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. My background includes working as a crisis hotline volunteer, supporting individuals through some of their most difficult moments. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I spent over seven years in human resources and recruitment, which gives me a strong understanding of workplace stress, burnout, communication challenges, and navigating professional environments.
Across these experiences, one thing has remained consistent: I value genuine connection and believe in each person’s capacity for growth. I integrate my lived experience, clinical training, and professional background to offer support that is both practical and deeply human.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking my dog Sushi, trying new restaurants, and unwinding with shows and documentaries.
Therapeutic Approach
My approach is primarily person-centered, with a focus on creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative space. I work with empathy, openness, and respect, and tailor our sessions to what feels most helpful for you.
I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), integrating these in a way that feels natural, flexible, and grounded in your goals. Together, we can explore patterns, process emotions, and develop tools that support meaningful and lasting change.
I commonly support clients with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and questions around identity, culture, and belonging. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, therapy can offer a space to slow down and reconnect.
I take a culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach, and welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities.
My goal is to help you build greater self-awareness, strengthen your emotional resilience, and feel more grounded and confident in your life. You don’t have to navigate things on your own—we can work through it together.
