Minou Truong
Background
Seeking support can feel vulnerable, especially when you’re carrying stress, uncertainty, or questions about who you are and where you’re headed. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self—without judgment, pressure, or expectations. I strive to make therapy feel like a genuine, collaborative conversation where you can explore what’s on your mind and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.
Many of the clients I work with are navigating anxiety, self-doubt, relationship challenges, identity exploration, life transitions, or feeling stuck between who they are and who they believe they should be. You may be struggling with family expectations, cultural pressures, questions about belonging, or uncertainty about your next steps. Whatever brings you to therapy, you do not have to navigate it alone.
As a queer Vietnamese woman who grew up in Vietnam and later adapted to life in a different cultural context, I understand some of the complexities of living between different worlds. These experiences have shaped how I understand identity, relationships, belonging, and personal growth. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals exploring cultural identity, LGBTQIA2S+ experiences, self-worth, relationships, and major life transitions.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy creative expression through music, writing, and storytelling, as well as spending time with video games and other forms of art and media.
Therapeutic Approach
I believe that therapy should be tailored to the individual rather than fit into a predetermined formula. My approach is grounded in curiosity, collaboration, compassion, and respect for your unique experiences. Together, we will explore the patterns, stories, emotions, and beliefs that may be influencing your life while identifying strengths and possibilities that support growth and healing.
I draw primarily from Person-Centred and Narrative Therapy, helping clients better understand themselves, reconnect with their values, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves. I also integrate tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) when helpful to support emotional awareness, resilience, and lasting change.
Whether you are looking to better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, navigate anxiety or uncertainty, or create a life that feels more aligned with who you are, I am committed to providing a supportive, inclusive, and affirming space where you can feel heard and understood.
I want to acknowledge that who I am and where I come from shapes how I see the world and practice therapy. I am a Vietnamese queer, cisgender woman living and learning on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), Stóō, shíshálh (Sechelt), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in creating meaningful, authentic, and sustainable change.
