Background

Hello, I’m Tasha (she/her) . I am currently pursuing my Master of Counselling at CityUniversity here in Vancouver, the city where I was born and raised. My academic journey began at the University of British Columbia, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

My passion for mental health isn't just academic; I have spent the last three years working in the non-profit mental health sector. This experience has given me a front-row seat to the systemic barriers many face when seeking help, and it has deepened my resolve to provide compassionate, community-centered care.

Looking toward the future, my goal is to become a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I am particularly drawn to working with young adults. I understand that navigating key life transitions—whether it’s finishing school, starting a career, or understanding one's identity—can be overwhelming. I aim to create an accessible space where these clients feel seen and supported.

Furthermore, my approach is deeply influenced by my identity as a second-generation Canadian. I understand the unique complexities of navigating two cultures and the pressure to fit into different molds. I hope to bring this cultural humility to my practice, offering a safe space for clients to explore their own intersecting identities.

Therapeutic Approach

My practice is deeply grounded in a Person-Centered approach. I believe that therapy is not about me telling you what to do, but rather creating a space where you feel safe enough to discover your own answers. My goal is to ensure you feel truly comfortable, heard, and empowered to show up exactly as you are—without fear of judgment.

I view therapy as a collaboration. I recognize that every client brings a unique tapestry of backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences into the room. I don't pretend to be an expert on your life or your culture; instead, I strive to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and continuous learning. I want to build a partnership where your history and identity are honored as vital parts of your healing.

Finally, I come to this work not just as a clinician, but as a fellow human. Having attended therapy for several years myself, I know what it’s like to sit in the client’s chair. I understand the courage it takes to ask for help. Because of this, I am prepared to walk alongside you with genuine empathy, supporting you through your challenges—no matter how big or small they may feel.
