Megan Binder (she/her)

Background
I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to feel seen, heard, and valued – it is this deep belief that drew me to the field of counselling. To me, healing begins with connection. My major in psychology and minor in counselling from the University of British Columbia (UBC) set the foundation for an informed, evidence-based practice, while my background as a yoga instructor (RYT 200) has allowed me to explore more holistic, spiritual perspectives, learning about the mind-body connection in greater depth and and how it can support emotional well-being. Over the years, I have gravitated toward roles that support and educate others, volunteering in hospitals and mental health initiatives, working in healthcare, teaching yoga, and writing. Each of these experiences has strengthened my passion for helping others rewrite their stories, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater self-compassion.
On a more personal level, I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and have lived in BC for over 10 years – I am grateful to call Vancouver home. I love to read, practice yoga, hike, cook new recipes, take up creative art projects, and travel (36 countries and counting)! I believe that embracing new experiences and perspectives fosters greater compassion and gratitude — values I strive to live by every day.
Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic style is warm, relational, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed. I adopt a collaborative and personalized practice to help clients identify and work towards meaningful goals, enhance self-understanding, highlight strengths, and learn strategies for improving their quality of life. All work is built upon trust, safety, and authenticity.
My approach is holistic and person-centered, integrating both evidence-based practices and a grounded, spiritual perspective to help people meet their unique needs and step into their higher selves. I draw from techniques in cognitive, humanistic, somatic, mindfulness-based, and strengths-based approaches. My goal is to help clients regulate both the mind and body, uncovering the resources and tools needed to explore one’s inner world, find clarity and wholeness, and feel more empowered in everyday life.
