Alysha Yakimovich

Background
I believe that every individual, regardless of their life experience, deserves to be met with compassion, genuine presence, and non-judgmental understanding. My academic background in Psychology, combined with extensive experience in mental health and addiction recovery settings, has shaped my commitment to supporting individuals in moving beyond surface-level coping and toward meaningful, sustainable healing.
I am especially drawn to holistic approaches that honour the connection between mind, body, and lived experience. I have completed my certification in herbal medicine, which has enriched my understanding of healing as something that can be supported through both clinical and integrative lenses. This foundation informs my broader perspective on healing as a process that involves the whole person, not just symptoms in isolation. Originally from just outside Victoria on Vancouver Island, I am currently continuing my clinical development in Vancouver while learning from the diversity of the communities around me.
Outside of my work and studies, you will likely find me in nature whether that be gardening, surfing, foraging, making music, or just staying generally active outdoors. Nature has always been an important source of grounding, reflection, and renewal for me. I also enjoy setting physical and mental challenges for myself and working steadily toward meaningful goals, whether that’s training for an endurance event, learning a new skill, or pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Growing up on Vancouver Island has inspired a lifelong love of adventure and the outdoors, and I believe those experiences have helped me cultivate the curiosity, presence, and appreciation I bring into my work with clients.
Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centred. I aim to offer a space where clients feel safe, welcomed, and free to show up exactly as they are, without judgment or pressure to be anything different.
I tailor my approach to meet each person’s unique needs and goals, and I view therapy as a flexible and evolving process rather than a fixed method. My intention is to support clients in building greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion, while also fostering a sense of groundedness and clarity. I also see therapy as a space that gently invites meaningful self-inquiry, including asking honest and sometimes challenging questions, as part of understanding your own emotional patterns and moving toward personal growth.
My work is primarily informed by somatic approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. Through these frameworks, I aim to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of their internal experiences and strengthening their capacity to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and care.
