My name is Wendy Shen, and a registered clinical counsellor in BC. I moved to Canada 11 years ago from Mainland China. I lived on Vancouver Island shortly and fell in love with the city of Vancouver and have lived here ever since then. Vancouver now feels more like home than anywhere else in the world.
Volunteering has been a tradition in my family and my passion since a young age. I volunteered in a diverse range of settings growing up and recognized I could learn more tools to facilitate growth in individuals by learning counselling psychology when I was at University. I now hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UBC and a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.
I offer individual, relationship, and family counselling based on a holistic, integrative, trauma-informed, and meaning-centered approach. I have training in mindfulness-based somatic therapy, existential therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and narrative therapy.
My main focus areas are depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and disordered eating behaviours. We will work on the current presenting problems and the underlying big picture issues. I have an optimistic view of human nature and believe we all have an innate drive to thrive, and there is always hope. If you feel overwhelmed, let me be a fellow traveler in your journey, and we will work together to revolve the pain in the past and rediscover the purpose and passion for living.
