My name is Naina Menon and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I work with clients who are reaching out for support with issues of trauma, stress, emotional regulation and self-introspection, among others.
Through all my interactions, social and professional, I have learnt the value and presence of resilience in the lives of every individual. Each of us face many silent struggles everyday, struggles that no one around us knows about- I hope to support all my clients with as much empathy and kindness as they need. Stemming from the culture I grew up in and the culture I grew in, I carry with myself the combination of a collectivistic as well as an individualistic outlook. I aim to provide clients, with a listening ear, and social support. I hope to create a safe and healthy space for them, enabling them to explore and connect with their “true self”.
I was born in Delhi, India and I moved to Vancouver, Canada to complete my Master’s in Counselling. Sports and movement have been a big part of my life, especially contributing towards my values, worldview, and my mental health. Being an immigrant, I am constantly on the lookout for fun and adventurous activities, but I also love my downtime, with a book and a delicious cup of coffee!
I strive to create a safe space for those I interact with. I believe that the foundation for any long- lasting relationship is trust, genuineness and safety. I believe that we are our biggest resource I strive toward providing newer tools of adaptiveness, along with recognizing and polishing the tools that grow within.
I approach therapy with an open and non-judgemental stance. I question from a place of curiosity, to better understand my clients and their view of the world. I work from a Trauma Informed Lens as well as an Adlerian perspective. I believe you are your biggest and strongest resource. I view all clients holistically and I work with them on all intersecting aspects of their life.
I also use tools from various other modalities, such as Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practices among others, to help clients the way they want to be helped; and not the way I want to help them.
