Jordyn Aylesworth

Background
My name is Jordyn Aylesworth and I work with a diverse group of clients who are seeking support with regulating emotions, reducing stress, increasing self-awareness, and working towards a desired outcome.
I grew up in a small town near the Alberta Rocky Mountains, but have been enjoying Island life in Victoria, BC for over ten years now. Having grown up heavily involved in sport, I have always been fascinated with Mental Performance and Sports Psychology. This desire to understand our mind’s abilities led me to years of corporate training and leadership development and continues to be a passion of mine today. While completing my Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria, my work was exclusively focused in Infertility. This gave me a profound understanding of the pain and fear that life transitions and new beginnings can bring into our present lives. As I pursued my Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, I then worked in Supportive Cancer Care. This experience helped me gain perspective and knowledge surrounding the impact of unexpected news, as well as the effect our physical health can have on our mental health.
I love exploring our Island and the surrounding areas with my partner. Our favourite activities are cycling, hiking, travelling and skiing. I am a cis white woman who uses the pronouns she/her.
Therapeutic Approach
When we feel stuck or disconnected, we are likely experiencing a change in our momentum. My goal for our work together is to inspire forward momentum, however big or small.
I believe that by allowing ourselves the time and space to inquire about our past, we are able to shape both our present and future. Rather than chasing goals, I strive to stretch your natural strengths and abilities in order to achieve your desired outcomes. By working together to equalize your own playing field, we can explore the stressors and challenges in your life. This allows us to find strategies to best manage your presenting symptoms while exploring the root discomfort.
In my sessions, I incorporate mindfulness practices, CBT modalities, Family Systems Theory, and Strengths-Based exercises in conjunction with my Person-Centred approach. We will work together to discover how you best process what is in front of you and, ultimately, gain momentum toward where you would like to go.
The opportunity to be a part of one's journey in life is an honour and a privilege. Thank you for inviting me to join you on yours.
