Amy Korchinski (she/her)

Background

My name is Amy Korchinski (she/her), and I am honoured to be interning at Avery Therapy Centre while pursuing a Master of Counselling at City University in Vancouver. I always wanted to be a therapist, but I believe that life had other plans to prepare me. I firmly believe that all of my experiences have led me to this point of becoming a counsellor.
 

In addition to living a busy and often stressful life, I have long since been pursuing a path of wellness and self-discovery. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Environmental Design and spent many happy and fulfilling years in corporate retail. I also have a lot of personal exposure to anxiety, depression and addiction. In 2018, I began practicing breathwork and working towards a certification as a facilitator. Once I started working with clients, I knew it was time to transition to the path of counselling. In my free time, I love practicing hot yoga, being in the ocean, eating chocolate and spending time with loved ones.

Therapeutic Approach

I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive and that growth and healing come from within. My trauma-informed approach to counselling is to accompany you on your journey, offering support when needed. If you meet with me, you can expect to be treated with acceptance, respect, calm and warmth.

My approach focuses on helping you build radical self-worth. Together, we can do this by drawing on the tools of narrative therapy, internal family systems, acceptance and commitment therapy, and the use of somatic practices. We will co-create an environment and treatment plan specific to you and your goals. No matter what draws you to counselling, I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.
